Big News!

In an effort to make the process of becoming a Big Brother or Big Sister as convenient as possible we are launching a new series of monthly Orientation and Training sessions at locations throughout Pinellas, Hillsborough, Pasco and Polk counties. If you are interested in becoming a mentor to one of the hundreds of Tampa Bay children on our waiting list, plan to attend one of our all-inclusive sessions, where you will be given an overview of our programs, complete our mentor training, submit your enrollment form and schedule your in-person interview. It’s never been quicker or easier to join our organization and become a positive role model to a child facing adversity. School To Work Comes To Tampa!

BBBS launched its first School-to-Work program in February, a collaboration between the agency, Nielsen and the Hillsborough County School District. Under the program, the first of its kind in Tampa Bay, students from A.P. Leto High School are bused once a month to the Nielsen campus in Oldsmar, where employees serve as Big Brothers and Big Sisters to the students. The matches, which continue through the students’ junior and senior years, will focus on individual support, guidance and friendship, as well as help preparing for life after graduation. This program helps students feel empowered and motivates their academic performance to obtain a higher level of education. Big Brothers Big Sister is always looking for new School-to-Work corporate partners! Contact JenniferL@BBBSTampaBay.org for more information.

Become a volunteer. We're looking for committed and dedicated men, (and yes, women and couples, too!) who want to make a difference in the life of a child (Little). Volunteers (Bigs) spend a few hours a month doing simple things with their Little: going to the library, enjoying a ball game, just hanging out and we encourage Bigs to stay matched at least for one year. Click here, call (813) 769-3600, or e-mail info@bbbstampabay.org to apply or receive more information.
