Rays named Knight Parade grand marshals, select BBBS as community partner

The Tampa Bay Rays have been named the grand marshals of February’s Krewe of Sant’ Yago Knight Parade and have selected BBBS of Tampa Bay as their special guests, a tribute to the great relationship between the Rays and our organization. A Tampa tradition since the 1970s, the illuminated parade will take place on Saturday, Feb. 13, in historic Ybor City. “The Rays have a tremendous impact on our community and we look forward to highlighting their great work,” said Louis Campanello, Krewe of the Knights of Sant’ Yago member and parade chairman. As guests of the Rays, BBBS will be able to have representatives on both the Grand Marshal and Rays floats, have volunteers march in the parade, and have a special viewing area for our supporters. BBBS will also be involved in several other parade-related activities, as well as other events connected to the month-long Gasparilla celebration, which will provide excellent opportunities for promotion, fundraising and recruitment. Thanks you, Rays, for inviting us aboard!

Companies For Kids Golf Invitational draws record participation, revenue

Our 4th annual Companies For Kids Golf Invitational was an incredible success! Our sold out event hosted a record 260 golfers on all three courses at Innisbrook Resort & Golf Club, and was the first tournament on the newly-renovated, prestigious Copperhead Course. We raised a record amount, over $300,000, to support our mentoring programs and our VIP guests enjoyed top-level service, amenities, merchandise, networking and fun, all while supporting kids in our community. Special thanks to HSN & Tech Data for their leadership support and our other Diamond level sponsors: Bright House Networks, Cisco, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and the Tampa Bay Rays.

Become a volunteer. We're looking for committed and dedicated men, (and yes, women and couples, too!) who want to make a difference in the life of a child (Little). Volunteers (Bigs) spend a few hours a month doing simple things with their Little: going to the library, enjoying a ball game, just hanging out and we encourage Bigs to stay matched at least for one year. Click here, call (813) 769-3600, or e-mail info@bbbstampabay.org to apply or receive more information.
